Job Description

Wilderness School is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Debating Coordinator to lead and support our Years 7–12 debating program.

The Debating Coordinator is responsible for the organisation, delivery and continuous improvement of the School’s debating program. This includes coordinating teams, supporting coaches and students, and ensuring a positive and high-quality debating experience.

The role requires 15-20 hours per week, coaching occurs at lunchtime during the week and debates are held 3 nights per week after school. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the debating program, including team nominations, registrations and competition logistics
  • Liaise with SADA, coaches, students and families to ensure clear and timely communication
  • Organise and supervise training sessions, meetings and competition attendance
  • Support and mentor students in developing debating, critical thinking and communication skills
  • Collaborate with coaches to enhance student performance and confidence
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance and reporting requirements
  • Uphold student wellbeing, behaviour expectations and duty of care at all times
  • Contribute to school communications and promote the debating program
