Job Description

Wilderness School is seeking expressions of interest for casual Rowing Coaches to join our incredible Sport & Recreation program.

Co-curricular sport is central to life at Wilderness, supporting our commitment to educating the whole person. Our program offers diverse competitive and recreational opportunities, fostering skill development, teamwork, resilience and a lifelong appreciation for health and wellbeing within an inclusive and supportive environment.

Our Rowing Coaches plays a vital role in supporting the values and vision of Wilderness School through the delivery of a high-quality rowing program. This position is responsible for coaching and developing students in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment, while fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. The role requires clear communication, collaboration with the Director of Rowing, and a commitment to technical excellence, athlete wellbeing, and equipment care. By modelling professionalism and upholding the school’s culture, the Rowing Coach ensures every athlete is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

About You

  • Appropriate experience and coaching qualifications, with a background relevant to the role
  • Strong knowledge of rowing technique and coaching practices, aligned with Rowing Australia standards.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire athletes in a positive and supportive environment.
  • Able to demonstrate strong swimming ability.
  • Knowledge around fleet upkeep and maintenance.
  • Hold a Level 2 Rowing Australia Coaching Accreditation or equivalent or are willing to work towards obtaining.
  • Hold a current Provide First Aid and provide CPR accreditation
