About The Role
The Head of Music Performance (Co-Curricular) provides strategic and operational leadership of the School’s Music Co-Curricular program, fostering a culture of musical excellence, participation and performance. Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Student Experience, this role oversees ensembles, performances and music events across ELC to Year 12, ensuring high-quality learning experiences and strong community engagement.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Head of Music (Curriculum), ensemble directors, instrumental tutors, students and families to deliver a cohesive and inspiring music program.
This is a 3 year tenured leadership position (including a permanent teaching substantive) commencing in Term 2 2026. The roles comes with a 0.26FTE time allowance, and a 0.54FTE - 0.74FTE teaching load, negotiable for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of the School’s co-curricular music program.
Coordinate rehearsal schedules and oversee ensemble operations.
Plan and deliver a comprehensive annual calendar of concerts, camps, competitions and music events.
Manage event logistics including venues, transport, production and risk management.
Oversee budget lines and resource management for co-curricular music.
Support and develop instrumental tutors and ensemble directors, including onboarding and professional learning.
Promote and elevate the profile of Music within the School and broader community.
Collaborate with the Head of Music (Curriculum) on ensemble loads, scholarship auditions and strategic initiatives.
This role requires attendance at out-of-hours events and performances.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You are an accomplished musician and educational leader with demonstrated experience in leading ensembles and managing complex music programs. You bring:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and expertise in music performance and education.
The ability to teach SACE Stage 2 is highly desirable.
Proven leadership capability, including the ability to build team capacity and foster a collaborative culture.
Strong organisational, strategic and administrative skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with students, staff and families.
A commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and inclusive practice.
